The bazaar grew from the caravan trade that once passed through Chiang Mai between China and the south. Today stalls and arcades stretch along Chang Klan Road, selling carved wood, silver, lacquerware, hill tribe crafts and souvenirs, while food courts and bars keep it lively into the night.
