Built at the turn of the twentieth century by Frigyes Schulek, the bastion was never a fortification but a decorative viewing terrace in Neo-Romanesque style. Its seven towers are said to recall the Magyar tribes, and it frames the colourful tiled roof of Matthias Church, which Schulek also restored.
