Designed by Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer as the climax of the new capital, the square is framed by the Congress, the presidential Planalto Palace and the Supreme Federal Court. Sculptures such as Bruno Giorgi's The Warriors and the Pantheon of the Fatherland stand on its vast paved expanse.
