À propos

Mohamed Bey of the Muradid dynasty built this mosque around 1683 for the Hanafi community of Kairouan, during a conflict with his brother Ali Bey. Raised above the souks on an irregular plan, it has a main prayer hall, three courtyards, a minaret and a women's prayer hall. The square hall's wooden ceiling rests on thirty ancient columns, and the minaret is crowned by a lantern.

Meilleur moment pour y aller: Look for it while exploring the souks; the main stair rises from Balhouen Street.
