The Vietnam Museum of Ethnology presents the 54 officially recognised ethnic groups of Vietnam. It lies in the Cầu Giấy district, around 8 kilometres from the city centre, on a site of more than four hectares. A second exhibition building, opened in 2013, looks at the cultures and peoples of the wider Southeast Asian region. It is part of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.
